We present you with a guide to the main interior decoration trends in 2024, according to designers, industry leaders, and style experts.
The neutral, warm and welcoming palette will continue to set the tone, although interior design trends lean towards exploring patterns, textures, and personalization in our living spaces.
Below, we’ve asked furniture, lighting, paint, color and interior design experts to share their predictions for interior design trends for 2024.
1. MORE SUSTAINABLE DECORATION
Amy, Interior Designer at Henry Interior Design, says that we will look for designers and makers who create beautiful pieces from sustainable sources. “Sustainability continues to be a buzzword in interior design, especially for those designers and clients with a greener lifestyle. We expect much more of a reduce, reuse and recycle attitude to be embraced in 2023.”
Amy predicts that there will be a lot of interest in companies that breathe new life into unwanted textiles, wallpaper, lighting and accessories that would otherwise go to landfill, like the Haines Collection.
The key is to have a more sustainable, efficient and ecological house. At the same time, our shopping habits will reinforce the secondhand economy. Display cases packed with vintage treasures and one-offs from flea markets and thrift sellers destined for recycling and reuse will add a touch of English eccentricity in 2023, according to Brian Davenport, owner and co-founder of lighting company The Solar Center: “It’s a classic style that will coordinate to create an intriguing and energetic feeling in our homes.”
2. WHITE KITCHENS TRIUMPH
The return of this color to the kitchen is a fact. Designers and architects report a heavy reversal of multipurpose living, with a tendency to separate the kitchen from the living space. In smaller spaces, in particular, it’s important to maximize light and create a feeling of spaciousness, and white, as a reflective, neutral tone, is a great way to achieve this.
“The timeless white kitchen is going to be a huge trend in 2023,” says Annie Tullett, sales designer for kitchen company Tom Howley. “We’ve seen such a huge change in how we want our homes to look, feel, and function in the last three years. I think because of the extra time we spend in our homes, we need to make them feel much more spacious, light, and bright.” White kitchens do this perfectly, bringing a transformative aesthetic to rooms of any size and mastering the art of illusion, making smaller rooms appear larger.”
Reflecting the soft, tactile feel, color and paint expert Annie Sloan also predicts that warmer metals like brass and bronze will replace polished chrome as the choice for kitchen fixtures by 2024.
3. STONE IS THE STAR MATERIAL
We have not seen this material in the decorative proposals of the big brands for years, however, this year stone surfaces return to change the atmosphere of the house.
You can opt for lamps with marble or granite feet, granite surfaces for the tables or with more luxurious finishes, such as travertine, or decorative details made with natural or sintered stone.
4. MORE CREATIVE COATINGS
Fans of traditional borders and these types of decorative elements will love one of the most creative trends of 2024: borders and stenciling. Taking inspiration from period houses, this renewed interest in traditional crafts echoes our new appreciation for elegant living.
“All trends are cyclical, and we’re currently enjoying a lot of 1930s references in interiors,” says Annie. “Stenciling takes us back to classic mural printing and stamping traditions, which were much referenced during and after the Art Deco and Art Nouveau periods. Given the ease with which stenciling can offer a whole extra layer to your painted furniture, or even walls, it’s no wonder we’re constantly reinventing ways to get it back.”

5. DECORATE WITH WARM COLORS
Dulux has chosen a soft golden neutral, Wild Wonder, as the color of the year for 2024, but there’s a trend toward therapeutic “sunset hues” that goes beyond the soft shades of this shade. It is a great option to decorate the bedroom.
“We are seeing that yellow is also in fashion,” says Diane. “When done right, it infuses spaces with energy and warmth. But yellow can seem like an intimidating color to decorate with, as we often think first of fluorescent shades and shades of yellow. The bright amber hues in our tile collection Signature have a unique understatement that brings a stylish and refreshing pop of color, especially when contrasted against a muted sage green wall or warm wood cabinets.”
Joanna Ross, CEO of home brand Sheridan, is definitely noticing sunset hues in the bedroom: “It’s a huge color trend to watch out for in 2024. For example, our new set of shams.” Marrea Quilt celebrates pinks, reds and yellows in a bold floral pattern that transports you to the most beautiful of sunsets, all within the comfort of your own bedroom.”
6. CRAFTS COME TO LIFE
Have these objects in your home that have become the new luxury and choose figures, vases for your flowers, vintage structures or artisan textiles, such as Macrame hanging planter.
7. FURNITURE WITH CURVES
We’re already familiar with curved sofas and armchairs, but the sinuous shapes are set to spread throughout the home, says Matthew. “From bold arches to luxurious curved sofas, softer edges are a great way to add dimension to your space.”
For a vintage feel to your lighting this season , she recommends going for funky light shades: “A statement piece, like a marble and chrome curved dome floor lamp, will be a great way to stand out in a certain location.”
“We’ve seen some wonderful examples of round rugs that are an interesting alternative to rectangular or square options,” says Amy. “They can work especially well when paired with a curved sofa or used to create a welcoming setting in a foyer or entry room with a stylish round table on top.”

8. COLORS 2023: TERRACOTTA AND STONE
Terracotta, which brings warmth and reminds us of soft Mediterranean landscapes, is very topical, without forgetting the tones that are trending in “Terracotta is definitely having a resurgence,” says Diane. “With a rustic, earthy texture, it fuels a prevailing desire to connect our interiors with the natural world. In shades of burnt orange and reddish-brown, terracotta tiles work well in white, country-style kitchens, bringing warmth to a space. Otherwise, it would be clean and crisp. Terracotta is also ideal for tiling the porch, creating a welcoming and distinctive entrance to your home.”

9. NATURAL DECORATION
We need a breather, reconnect with our essence and return to nature. In this sense, the Scandinavian style resists the onslaught of fashion and makes a name for itself in the decoration trends of 2024.
Decorative elements and furniture made with natural materials score points, but you can also wink at nature by choosing textiles with botanical motifs.
10. LAMPS AND SCONCES
This season, the luminaires play with perspective. That’s why we’ll be looking at pendant lamps, shades, and sconces, especially in smaller rooms, says Niki Wright, co-founder of Lights & Lamps.
“By 2024, we’ll be designing products on an exaggerated scale to create interest and a sense of fun,” explains Niki Wright. “This could be through a collection of lamps with a similarly textured surface, or the use of geometric shapes like domes, cones, and globes. A statement lamp can be very significant in a living room, while a lamp with a similar form on a smaller scale can be much more practical in a corner or placed on a small shelf”.

11. BROWN FURNITURE IS BACK
This dark color is back in decoration, perfectly encapsulating both the retro trend of the 70s and the interest in all things natural. “Brown is great for giving a sense of security, it’s warm and cozy and not at all intimidating,” says Benji. “For a long time, shades of gray have been sidelined because people think it’s too earthy or reminiscent of bad ’70s style.”
In addition, Suzanne affirms that ” vintage European-style furniture from the 70s will remain strong and that rattan and wicker will be recurring elements to continue providing texture and warmth to our homes.”
On the other hand, if this is the first time you buy furniture in chocolate tones, remember that they have to be very special pieces, Suzanne concludes that “you can’t go wrong buying an English chest of five drawers, a walnut buffet or a French chest of drawers from Luis 15th century.
