The floors of our homes are revolutionized in 2024 and take center stage with bold prints, and neutral colors inspired by nature.
This year, we all seek to breathe new life into our homes. It seems to be a priority since Google searches for “interior design trends 2024” have increased more than 500%. In fact, we already anticipated what the trends will be.
From living room accessories to paint colors to flooring choices, our homes are an ever-evolving mix of all the things we love. Are you planning a reform at home with a change of pavement as the protagonist? Take a look at the main flooring trends for 2023:
1. BRIGHT COLORS AND BOLD PATTERNS
Expectations are floors will be “full of character this year, as more and more people are opting to inject color into their homes from floor to ceiling. We’re seeing an increase in customers opting for jewel colors like gold, ruby, forest and midnight blue that make a difference in any room.
Bold designs create energy in the home. Although neutral floors have been popular for a long time, and still are, in 2024, more of us will be trading safe designs for flashy styles.
2. LARGE TILES
Large-format tiles will be big news, thanks to their ability to make a small space seem bigger. Large format porcelain stoneware tiles are becoming increasingly popular and with the wide range of colors and textures available, they are sure to continue to be a favorite in 2023 and beyond,” says Oliver, Director of The Stone & Ceramic Warehouse.
Using a large format tile means you’ll have fewer grout lines, giving a feeling of space even in a small room. Light-colored tiles can make a small room seem larger as they reflect more light than dark colours, giving a light and airy feel. A good tip is to use the same tiles for the walls as for the floor. This will further increase the sense of space by creating a seamless look.”

3. GOLDEN PAVEMENT
The allure of shimmering fabrics never fades, and iridescence is making its way into the world of interior design. In 2024, homeowners will dazzle with mat that shimmer and shine. If you do not want to choose gold, opt for natural tones. Dark tones, like rust, are great for warming up bedrooms.
Smith, believes that “earthy and natural tones will take over in 2024, and gold and metallic hues will work perfectly with neutral tones on the walls. Luxe mats with a subtle shimmer are a great way to embrace this trend, while adding a much-needed touch of luxury and added warmth to the final look.”
4. CHECKERBOARD FLOORS
“Reinvigorate your home with one of the hottest trends of 2024: checkerboard tile flooring. There’s no doubt that checkerboard flooring is experiencing a resurgence,” explains Martin.
She adds that “checkerboard floors are a great way to add design and visual interest to a room, and work especially well in hallways, bathrooms, and kitchens. While traditionally monochromatic, we’re also seeing modern versions that use a variety of cheerful color combinations in softer tones”.
5. HYDRAULIC FLOORS
Color and pattern play a crucial role in determining the mood of a room. We like nothing more than a vibrant tile, but experts predict that this year our attention will also turn to material choice. According to the design team at Craven Dunnill & Co: “Encaustic cement tiles are going to experience a big boom in the coming months, especially in the most used spaces. In this sense, you will like these beautiful options for hydraulic tile floors for the bathroom.
Traditionally created with ceramic clay of different colors and inlaid into the body of the tile, hydraulic tile floors are known for their durability, as well as their impressive patterns and pigments.
Cement tiles are an excellent way to bring a room to life, infusing a space with refreshing color and pattern,” explains Diane, Marketing Director at Craven Dunnill & Co, because this type of flooring has “a beautiful look and It’s highly durable, so it’s perfect for high-traffic areas like hallways or kitchens. It is a floor designed to be long-lived, they are an investment that promises to withstand the test of time for many years.”
6. WOOL MAT
Soft and plush wool mat are perfect for warming up living rooms. In addition to offering excellent resistance to wear and tear in general, and maintaining its original appearance for many years, wool provides natural insulation by reducing drafts and trapping heat.
“Given the uncertainties of the economy and an increased desire for a sense of sanctuary in our homes, we should see wool carpets become increasingly popular in 2024 due to their timeless look and exceptional heat retention properties,” says Johanna, Director of Brand and Communications.
For Constantinou, “We see that homeowners are looking to add value to their homes, rather than move them. Wool carpets offer a robust and long-lasting option for those looking to install some comfort without compromising quality, so they are perfect for achieving this.”
7. PARQUET WITH GRAIN
Wooden floors will continue to be the best option in 2024, you just have to know the parquet installation prices. For Craig, “With all the stresses and pressures of daily life, creating a space that provides peace, rest, and refuge will be a big trend for 2023. Natural colors, fibers and textures create a soft aesthetic that is the perfect environment to relax and unwind. And there’s no better way to complement a relaxing space than with natural wood floors.”
Traditional wood styles are also making a comeback, as Karen of Forbo Flooring tells us: “More traditional flooring styles, such as parquet and herringbone patterns, will be chosen to add depth and character. Throughout 2024, We expect the wood aesthetic to remain a popular choice, with homeowners opting for cooler, more desaturated tones.”
